Melrose Elementary School

Stay updated on the Melrose Elementary School

Addition & Renovations project.

Current Status

Phase 1

Construction activities continue to progress across campus as summer work ramps up. Underground utilities serving the new Classroom and Administration/Media buildings are complete, stormwater infrastructure is advancing, and foundation work has begun following completion of the building pads. Renovations are underway in Buildings 14, 15, and 16, including upgrades to building systems, interior finishes, roofing, and exterior improvements.

Work has also started on the north side of campus, where demolition activities are preparing the site for the next phase of stormwater improvements. Two portable classroom buildings are scheduled for delivery in early June to support upcoming building demolitions, while asbestos abatement and cafeteria renovation preparations are also moving forward. With increased access during summer break, the project team is making significant progress toward key construction milestones.

Next Steps

Over the coming month, renovation activities will continue across the south side of campus. Buildings 14, 15, 16, and 17 are scheduled to receive new insulated metal roofing systems, while infrastructure upgrades, including fire alarm, communications, and IT rough-in work, will continue. Exterior painting will begin following completion of the roofing activities.

Sitework and stormwater improvements will continue and are expected to wrap up, allowing repaving efforts to begin at the north parking loop. A temporary drive lane will be established in preparation for the fall semester and will be adjusted as future parking and parent drop-off improvements are completed.

Major demolition activities are also on the horizon, with the existing cafeteria, Building 3, and Building 7 scheduled for removal to make way for construction of the new cafeteria facility.
